Are Boxer Dogs ok to have around cats?

I have 4 cats and we just got a Boxer puppy. They seem to be ok with him.
Since he will grow up with the cats and the cats are adjusting OK, it will probably work out fine.
One thought though – you should have considered this question before you got the dog. Some dogs and some cats just don’t do well together.

I’ve had a few Boxers and always a housefull of kitties.
Great together!
A bit rambunctuous at times with the old senior cats, but soon find out it’s more fun playing with the younger kitties!
Gd. luck on your sweet Boxer.

Not usually because they are known to be a breed that needs attention and they may feel like they now have to protect there territory and your cat may end up getting hurt.

I’ve had Boxers in the past and have always found them to be good natured, but very boisterous. When we had our last Boxer, we adopted two kittens from the same litter. Sadly, the cats never really got on very well at all, but the male kitten and the dog became best friends. Obviously all dogs have different personalities, but this is where obedience training will be helpful.
The links below have lots of information and advice on introducing cats to dogs that you may find helpful.

Make sure their litter box is somewhere private away from the puppy, because if they are ambushed whilst using it, that could lead to problems with them avoiding it. Same goes for their food dishes. Allow them access to plenty of high places like shelves or book cases where they can sit and observe the puppy from a safe distance until they feel more comfortable around him.
When everyone is well behaved together, reward them all with food treats, affection and lots of praise. This helps them associate each other with good things, and therefore company worth keeping.
Hope everything works out, good luck.

It will all depend on the cats. However, my Maine Coon virtually raised 3 Boxers over the years. She taught them manners and they learned to respect her 16lb body
