What dog breeds are not approved by Florida home owners insurance?

Posted on April 4th, 2010 by admin

Iver heard you can’t get home owneres insureance if you own certain dog breeds like siberian huskys and pitbulls. Can some tell me if German shepherd and Alaskan Malamutes are also on that list

I think akitas and dobermans are on that list . it is not the fact that you wont get home insurance it will just be higher . I live in florida too . My sister does as well and because she has a big dog she has to have more house insurance and it is hard enough to get insurance here as it is because of hurricaines ,I would think that they would not be so worried about dogs anymore . good luck .

Which of these dog breeds do you think I should get?

Posted on April 2nd, 2010 by admin

The details: I am at work 8 hrs per day but do come home at lunch for an hour. I will take time off to spend extra time with the puppy when she’s young.

I live in the city, medium backyard, looking to go for walks and to play frisbee at the park every evening or at least every other evening.

Prefer a low-shedding dog with minimal barking. Don’t have any kids, planning on doing obedience training.

Here are the breeds I have narrowed down to:

- Canaan Dog
- Entlebucher Mountain Dog
- Miniature Australian Shepherd
- Vizsla

Any thoughts?? Thanks!

They are all great breeds. Every dog is great in its own unique way. Canaan Dogs are the cutest out of the three i personally think. You should maybe try taking a trip down to your local humane society/animal rescue center. If you get a dog from there then you will probably save it’s life. They are really sweet dogs. I am getting one from my local shelter. On staurday she comes home. They are normally housetrained, there are many different breeds of every shape and size imaginable. Please get a dog from your shelter. They are really great pets. They even know some tricks sometimes so that would give you a head start in training for contests as well. What are some small breeds of dog with friendly dispositions?

Posted on March 31st, 2010 by admin

I would like to know some options of small dog breeds…so for example cavoodles, or any type of small dog breed with a friendly disposition towards people of all ages. I dont want a dog that will yap or bark alot….any ideas?

not as big as a beagle plz

The breed doesn’t matter, you just need to make sure you get a well socialised pup and continue on with its training. I have a Yorkie and he is an angel who loves everyone and all dogs he meets. We bought him from a family who had kids and who had kept him in the house, so he was already used to all kinds of people when we got him. We introduced him to all our friends, encouraged people in the street to say hello and took him to meet lots of dogs and took puppy classes.

As for being yappy, you can train a dog not to bark and keeping them well exercised will make them too tired to be bothered to yap all day!

If you want the perfect dog you just need to put the work in.

Good luck.

Dog Breeds : How to Select a Chinese Shar-Pei

Posted on March 29th, 2010 by admin

When selecting a Chinese shar-pei, consider the dog’s original responsibility, which was to be a guard dog, and find a reputable breeder who breeds in low quantities for the best temperament and health. Research the shar-pei, contacting other shar-pei owners to get a feel for the breed, with helpful information from an experienced dog trainer in this free video on dog breeds.

What are the nicest, most trainable toy dog breeds out there?

Posted on March 29th, 2010 by admin

I live in an apartment and am looking into buying a toy dog. Most of the breeds I have looked at (including Poms and Pugs) are either inclined to bite or difficult to housetrain. I want to find a toy breed that’s friendly, affectionate, and relatively easy to housebreak. Is that possible? Feel free to report your experience with any particular toy breeds.

There are many Papillons that have earned top obedience awards. However, neither my pug nor my Chihuahua were difficult to train. You might check with your local shelter. Many times you will find a small dog already trained, and its worth a shot.
You will find shelter dogs listed on www.petfinder.com, if you are in North America

Best dog breeds that can survive in the Philippines?

Posted on March 27th, 2010 by admin

We’re moving back home and we’re planning to get a dog. I prefer small breeds. NO ASKALS please! I also want a dog that is not hard to find.
I meant a breed that is easy to find. I don’t want a rare breed.

Do you mean the ones that do not taste very good?
