Where can i find an easy to use dog breeds gallery?

Posted on March 25th, 2010 by admin

I need a gallery that shows more images of dog breeds on the same page. I DON’T want to click through 100+ pages to see each breed individually. Any ideas?

No, sorry. The closest thing I have found is the AKC website where you click "breeds by name" and it gives you pages of dogs in alphabetical order. www.akc.org

What dog breed or breeds, are the biggest clowns?

Posted on March 21st, 2010 by admin

I think pit bulls and bull terriers are huge clowns. What’s your opinion? What dog breeds are the biggest clowns?
In case your thinking I want another dog, I don’t. We live on a ranch in Texas and we already have 4 dogs, 3 cats, 2 ferrets, 9 pet cows, 2 donkeys, 2 pot bellied pigs, 3 mini goats, 2 horses, 2 kids and one on the way, a husband, a full time job, and partridge in a pear tree.

I think Pit Bulls are big clowns, but I think that Boxers are the Biggest clowns. They are always acting goofy, and they do this think their they fold their wiggly body in half, then swith and fold it in half on the other side when they are walking up to greet you. I think that is so cute, and it makes me laugh every time.

Vulnerable Native Breeds Rare Dogs BBC Country File

Posted on March 20th, 2010 by admin

Broadcast on the BBC 1 Country File show on Sunday 24th February at 11am was this piece on “rare” British and Irish breeds of dog, all of which are officially listed by the UK Kennel Club as “Vulnerable” because of their very low numbers. For example did you know that in 2007 there were just 36 Glen of Imaal Terriers born in the UK? Or just 37 Skye Terriers, a breed made famous by Greyfriars Bobby? Or just 41 Otterhounds, a breed which came over with William the Conquer and is one of our most ancient breeds? In all 15 of our rarest breeds were assembled for the BBC to film and these breeds were: (2007 Puppy totals in Brackets)
Glen of Imaal Terrier (36)
Skye Terrier (37)
Otterhound (41)
Sussex Spaniel (61)
Smooth Collie (63)
Sealyham Terrier (65)
Field Spaniel (67)
Welsh Corgi (Cardigan)(68)
Irish Red & White Setter (93)
Manchester Terrier (113)
Dandie Dinmont Terrier (124)
Norwich Terrier (128)
Lancashire Heeler (146)
Irish Water Spaniel (162)
Clumber Spaniel (223)
To put these numbers in perspective, in 2007 the Kennel Club registered over 45,000 Labradors!

The Countryfile program set out to highlight the plight these breeds find them selves in. The item was filmed at Cotswold Farm Park, near Cheltenham on Tuesday 12th February 2008 on a beautiful sunny winter’s day and as the farm is famed for its many rare breeds of livestock it was the perfect venue. The BBC presenter for the item is Miriam O’Reilly, whose credits include Farming Today, Costing the Earth, File on 4 and is a Country File regular. Two breeds get to be specially featured, Irish Water Spaniels retrieving from a lake and Glen of Imaal Terriers doing some rat work in a barn.

By the way – please don’t be put off by the claim that puppies from these breeds cost One Thousand pounds each – this in NOT the case. Most of these breeds cost no more than any other pedigree puppy, about £450 – £600, about the same as a pedigree Labrador for example!

If you have one of these very precious breeds, please post a comment and give this item a rating.
Thanks,

What are two name of dog breeds that when combined can create the name Chessy?

Posted on March 19th, 2010 by admin

My friend named her dog Chessy. She says that it combines the names of both breeds of her mixed dog. I can’t figure out what the two breeds are. Any ideas?

A Chessy is short for Chesapeake Bay Retriever.

what are the best dog breeds to live on boats?

Posted on March 17th, 2010 by admin

I live in a sailboat and would love to have a dog. I heard the best breeds are golden retriever, labrador and portuguese water dog, but I’d prefer a smaller dog. Does anyone have a suggestion?

We had a 20 pound minature poodle, and he was hardy and great. Any of the "water," dogs would be best. Just be careful with poodles – if they get bored, they are intelligent and will get mischevious.

My husband and I are searching for a dog to add to the family and it will be the first dog for both of us. What are some good breeds for people less experienced with dogs? We’d ideally like a medium-sized pup. Thanks!

How do I keep these dog breeds sheding under control?

Posted on March 13th, 2010 by admin

I want to get either a German Shepherd , a lab, or a Golden Reteriver.
I know their all really good dog breeds but my dad wants the one who sheds the least and they all shed a lot from what I hear.

So my question is does anyone know any ways to help control the sheding?

The most important thing is a good diet. Don’t feed a food that contains corn.
the FURminator really does work wonders:

Brush them daily to get any new loose hairs.
Dogs will literally dump their coats when they are over-heated, so keep them cool and comfortable. .
