What are the symptoms to pre-period in female dogs?

Posted on March 29th, 2010 by admin

My female jack russell mix is not feeling well today. She has pale gums and is not herself. She’s usually hyperactive and jumps a lot when my husband and I enter a room. This morning she wasn’t herself. She didn’t jump. She just wanted to lay down and her gums were pale. She did NOT have a fever and felt around her stomach area to see if that was a sore spot, but it wasn’t. Her ears inside are pink and nose is NOT running. But just her gums and tounge are pale. I need to know if these symptoms could be related to her getting her menstural cycle. By the way she’s probably 7 or 8 months old.

She’s at the right age, if she hasn’t come into season yet, then she is very likely coming in now.. Keep her away from male dogs, she is far too young to have a litter.. Spay her, so you don’t have to worry about it.. You don’t know about breeding so it’s best to spay her.. Dogs don’t have a period or pre-period..

What is Disperia in dogs? What are the symptoms and is it fatal?

Posted on March 27th, 2010 by admin

My dog is sick and someone told me that he had disperia i dont know if its spelled right. but i was also told it was fatal :(

maybe distemper? vomiting, diarrhea, thick yellow discharge from the eyes? if that is what your dog has then without intense treatment it will more that likely die. if it does recover, it will more that likely have muscle twitches the rest of it’s life.

Where can i find the signs and symptoms for dogs that are sick?

Posted on March 25th, 2010 by admin

It is a great idea for any pet owner to have a pet first aid book. I bought one and have used it many many times with my dogs. It can help you identify symptoms and if the vet needs to be called right away or if it can wait until next day, etc. It also tells you what you can do in the meantime. I have The First Aid Companion For Dogs & Cats, but there are many good ones out there. Check out Amazon for this and other books. You may also try looking up any symptoms on the internet.

What are the symptoms of Lyme Disease in dogs?

Posted on March 21st, 2010 by admin

My dog was just diagnosed w/Lyme Disease (we’ve had him for 3.5 years; got him from a shelter) but we don’t know at what stage it’s at. Currently we’re treating him w/antibiotics which are helping the excessive drinking/peeing. Does Lyme Disease make dogs dumb? My dog seriously will NOT listen to me anymore and he’s been taking off lately (after years of being just fine!) Perplexing…

becomes like arthritis symptoms ; go back to basics for retraining ; everyone needs a refresher at time to time
