Does Omega-3 fish oil have the same health effects on dogs as it does for humans?

Omega-3 fish oil can help prevent arthritis, and also apparantelly helps your mental health… that’s for humans. Would it have the same effect on dogs if they took one capsule on a regular basis? And would it be safe?

If it’s safe and it’ll help their health, I want to start giving my two dogs a capsule of fish oil each day with their breakfasts.

My sister’s vet recommended fish oil for her dogs.

Omega-3 fatty acids (those in fish oil) reduce inflammation.
Which is usually good for the health of the animal.
and many dog foods don’t have enough of it.
Which is why my nutrition book suggest supplementing by adding some oil to dog food.
Fish oil falls under that but you might want to ask your vet so you don’t overdo it.
