are my dogs symptoms normal or should I take him to the vet?

my Pomeranian (about 1 year old) has always had bad breath but it has gotten worse in the last couple of weeks. he has also been drooling and today when I brushed his teeth I notice that his gums are more red then usual and they started to bleed. he has been very sensitive to touch on his right side.Is there something I can do about it or should I take him to the vet.I love my dog very much and am concerned but I don’t want to take him to the vet for no reason.what should I do?

You should take him to the vet and I’m sure they’ll recommend you get him a dental or prescribe medicine. It just sounds like his gums are inflammed from an infection and breath does get worse when this happens. It could become painful though for the dog if you don’t take him and it’ll be hard for him to eat.

Uhh yeah i have a chihuahua who is 1 year old too and they are very similar to Pomeranian s. My dog has never had this problem although my other chihuahua has had bad breath but we think this is just old age. But you dog is one? Well maybe if all this is happening at such a young age I’d take him to the vet especially when I read that he had bleeding gums and is sensitive on the right side I thought yeah he needs to go to the vet. I understand I love my dogs too. :)

He needs to see your vet about getting his teeth cleaned. If his gums are really red & his breath is that bad, he probably has a lot of plaque built up under his gum line. This not only causes the gums to be inflamed, but causes a pocket to form & enlarge, fill up with bacteria, and his teeth will become loose. If it goes too long like this, the affected teeth will need to be extracted.

I know dental cleanings are expensive, but the bacteria in his mouth from periodontal disease can affect other organs over time. Good luck.

hi my name is April, and i am an RVT in training. PLEASE PLEASE take ur little baby to the vet asap. the drooling and the bleeding can be due to poisoning as of the sensitve right side there can be internal damage. If you cant afford the vet please surrender him to your local, spca. there is always petcare too. good luck and remember the sooner you take him the less you will both suffer.
