Are airedale terriers good with other dogs? Specifically the Maltese dog breed.?

Posted on February 6th, 2010 by admin

I am house sitting/babysitting an Airedale terrier and I know nothing about this dog breed. I have a Maltese but he can live with my parents for the week. However, I wanted to know if I introduced the 2 dogs how would the airedale terrier treat my maltese?

Depends on the specific dogs involved and less on their breeds. Introduce them on neutral territory (which neither sees as their own) and see how they do. As with any small dog/large dog pairing, make sure they aren’t left alone together unsupervised as serious injury could result for the smaller dog, even in play.

Since it is only for a short time, I would keep the dogs separated. The Airedale is too big and could easily hurt your dog without meaning to. Why put your dog at risk?

All dogs have different personalities no matter what breed they are!! You just need to find two dogs who like eachother!!
