Do maltese dogs make your house smell bad?

Posted on June 17th, 2010 by admin

I am thinking about buying a maltese but I don’t want my house to smell bad! Do maltese dogs make your house smell awful?

I have two Maltese and they in no way make my house smell bad. Because Maltese have hair that barely sheds and a minimal amount of dander they don’t really have that "doggie" smell.

I crate trained my Maltese and we had minimal accidents in the house.

Only if you don’t house-break the pup and allow it to defecate and urinate anywhere it wants in the home.

No. No dog makes your house smell bad unless you don’t clean it regularly.

Dogs do have a doggy odour but it’s not offensive. As long as you brush/comb them regularly, they should be fine.

Yes, if they’re not bathed regularly.

No dogs dont make your house smell bad, just make sure you potty train them, get puppy pad and go from getting them to pee on that to going out side

No dog makes the house smell if it’s:

    1. Bathed every once and a while
    2. House trained

Hopefully if you’re considering being a dog owner you’ll do both of these.

Have had many breeds….presently 2 Maltese. NO odor. They are VERY clean. We bathe them once a wk and comb every nite….coat is almost to the floor. They are shiny and beautiful. Very smart and loving.

Some maltese pups are difficult to "potty train"….if it pees and/or poops in your house, then "yes", your house will smell bad. If you are diligent and make sure that your puppy is "going" outside, then, NO, your house should not smell bad.
