I have found that most Maltese are more receptive to training first thing in the morning after a good nights sleep. That said, begin your training immediately after you dog wakes up first thing in the morning. He'll be both alert and active and hopefully ready to give you his complete and undivided attention.

Hi I recently just ...
Hi I recently just got myself a maltese. He is 14 weeks old but every time I try to train him he prefers to walk to his bed, even with the bed removed he will sit in a corner or anywhere he will feel cosy in. What do you recommend? I used to have a chow chow but she learnt each trick within less than a day so I am being very patient with this one =)

However the only thing I can think of is to use a leash to stop him walking away??

She even follows me to the bathroom. You will fall in love with them. But, like all dogs, basic training is a must.
