Potty training ( …
Potty training (housebreaking) should be the first thing that all dogs must learn. And the best way to accomplish this is to teach your dog that under no circumstances is it acceptable to poop or pee in the house; not even on those indoor potty mats. Instead, all bathroom detail should and MUST be done outside, and on a regular schedule if possible. Stick to your program and soon enough, your dog will get the idea.

Indeed Yes! Misty …
Indeed Yes! Misty is trained to do both on command. The trick is, when you take your dog outside to do his/her duty, be sure to have your dog on a leash, then issue the command. And keep issuing the command until you get results, afer which, follow up with praise then immediately take your dog back inside the house for a treat.

When you teach your …
When you teach your Maltese “Bang” (lay down and play dead) you have to help guide her down on her side after giving her the command, then immediately give her a treat when she is laying down. Eventually she’ll get the idea that you want her to lay down when she hears the “Bang” command.

Maltese dogs love …
Maltese dogs love to play tug-of-war with plush toys or an old sock. Teach your dog NOT to bite your hand by fulfilling his need to bite (play) with toys instead of your hand. Soon, he will hopefully learn to associate acceptable biting only with toys that meet with your approval.

Training a Maltese …
Training a Maltese takes patience, perserverance, and practice. Fortunately, the Maltese breed is very smart and most Maltese dogs WANT to obey their master. So it’s up to you to spend quality time with your Maltese beginning at a very early age and teach him/her how to obey your commands.

Here’s how I keep …
Here’s how I keep Misty’s face sparkly white… Each morning, Misty gets her face thoroughly washed. I use only a large washcloth saturated with warm water and wipe the area under her eyes to get ALL of the protein tears off of her face hairs. I then use a dish towel to dry her face followed up by a tissue to get her face completely dry. And that’s all… Warm water in a daily face cleaning routine. Sometimes I’ll also clean her face again later in the day if it looks like she needs it.

By barking out loud (like a dog) right after giving her the command to speak. Yes, I barked a lot at Misty when teaching her to speak. Eventually, she figured out that what I really wanted was for HER to bark!
