Does an underbite affect a dogs health or the food it can eat?

Posted on September 8th, 2011 by admin

I really like this dog and am planning on getting it but it has an under bite and I just want to know if it will affect her at all

It depends on the severity of the underbite. My dog has a very, very slight underbite and it does not affect her at all. There are dogs who have much more severe underbites, who need special diets. Some may "scoop" their food up with the underbite. Many dogs with underbies have no problem at all with eating, but there are some that are so poorly bred with massive underbites that may need help.

My dog:

Very, very slight underbite. If your dog has one like that or maybe a little more of an underbite, it should be perfectly fine.

How do symptoms of heart worm in dogs start progressing. What are the first things you notice?

Posted on August 29th, 2011 by admin

I have a dog that we got dehydrated and full of fleas. We bathed her and de wormed her and lots of food and water and love. Oh and ac. She will be tested aug 13 but wondering till then. She is very active and happy but dis colored fur which i know is a sign and rapid breathing in sleep.

Discolored fur is not a symptom of heartworms. The first symptoms seen tends to be exercise intolerance (can’t exercise as much),progressing to coughing, labored breathing, distended abdomen in advanced cases…

As a stray, you don’t know if she has been on any preventative or not so there is of course a risk that she has heartworms.

How many dogs have you raised in your life and when was the first time you started to have dog?

Posted on August 26th, 2011 by admin

How many dogs have you raised in your life and when was the first time you started to have dog? And what gave you the idea to have dog?

the earliest i can remember asking for a dog was 5 years old … my parents finally gave in when i was 10 and bought the family a miniature poodle … that dog lived to 16 years old and when i was away in university she died …

the next dog i bought was born in the day my childhood dog died (total coincidence) … i was 21 years old and he was a bichon cross and he lived to 17 years old …

my current dog was a gift … she is 12 years old …

i also work as a dog walker/sitter for the past six years and have many regular furry clients …

i have loved dogs from when i was born i guess :O)

What are the symptoms for rabies in dogs?

Posted on August 24th, 2011 by admin

There is a really cute stray near my home. But lately he is acting weird. Is it because he is infected? Is it safe to go near him?

Any abnormal neurological sign can indicate rabies. The first signs can be very subtle changes in behavior.

Can I trace my 2 registered Boxer dogs all the way up the AKC line?

Posted on August 22nd, 2011 by admin

We have a male and a female Boxer, 8 and 12 years old. Both are AKC registered (they did not share parents). I was reading tonight that the Boxer breed is around 120 years old and thought it would be interesting to see if either’s lineage could be traced back to the "first" Boxer. Is there a way to do that?

My dog is AKC and CKC ( Canadian Kennel Club) registered. I have an 8 generation pedigree that came with their paperwork when I bought him. And I believe you can do the search on the AKC website with the registration number. Or your National Breed Club. I suggest contacting them to find out.

Here is a list of them in the US

What are the symptoms of Diabetes in dogs?

Posted on August 17th, 2011 by admin

I have a female Shih Tzu and I think she is showing some signs of diabetes. She drinks lots and lots of water and pees alot. Other than that she seems fine. I would like to know the symptoms other than what i just listed. Thanks

You have clearly looked a symptoms associated with diebetes, so you need to go and get her tested…take with you a sample of her urine ( morning urine and no more than 6 hours old when you see the vet) this should show, if not then it will be a blood test…but the sooner you test the better and it doesn’t always mean they need to be on medication……………………………

can dogs show pregnancy symptoms a wee after mating?

Posted on August 15th, 2011 by admin

She’s not eating much food and she’s just laying around not as hyper as usual. She isn’t wanting to eat her dog food. Is this to early to show symptoms? She tied like 6 times but iit was with a 5 month old dog and I don’t want her to be pregnant.
I know she won’t show but would she go off her food? I can’t spay her she’s ACK and has titles. I can’t mention this to my breed mentor she’ll wring my neck
She bred all through Easter weekend

Spaying would answer that question. If you didnt want her to have puppies how did she tie 6 times? It isnt too late to alter. Most dogs do not show this early.

What is some symptoms of mold or antifreeze poisoning in dogs?

Posted on August 13th, 2011 by admin

Four of six of my dogs were having convulsions and when they threw up the veterinarian said that it had potato’s and it had something grassy. We treated two other dogs and one of them had convulsions. He gave them a shot to counteract any poison in their symptoms.

You could’ve asked the vet, and still should. But common symptoms are vomiting, convulsions, and death; and I say common b/c it usually takes an autopsy to determine the cause.
