How do pet dogs get rabies? How does it transmitted?
Posted on April 30th, 2010 by admin
my pet is 80 days old. Doctor recommended to take vaccination after 90 days. is there any possibility of getting rabies infection? also will it transmit if the dog licks on our face?
Pet dogs get rabies by being bitten by a wild animal that is infected with rabies, such as a raccoon or fox. Keep you dog in the house and keep him on a leash when he is outside. Don’t let him run around outside unsupervised, and don’t take him in the woods, where you might encounter a wild animal. Make sure your dog gets the rabies vaccine from the vet. It is required by law in most places. If your dog did get infected by rabies, it would be transmitted to you if he bit you, but not by licking. If you have more questions about rabies, ask your vet.

They get bit or eat infected animals. It is transferred through any kind of break in the skin ie from dog bite or eating infected animals.

You should post in the PETS forum.
Highly unlikely your dog will get rabies unless it goes in the woods and fights with a racoon or coyote.
90 days is about when all pets have to be legally vaccinated.
